Faculty:

RICHARD DAVIS ~ Richard Davis is an international performing musician and professor of Bass (European Classical and Jazz), Jazz History and combo improvisation at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Chicago born, he came to UW-Madison in 1977 after spending 23 years in New York City establishing himself as one of the world’s premier bass players. Downbeat International Critics Poll named him Best Bassist from 1967-74. He has recorded a dozen albums as a leader and 2000 recordings/jingles as a sideman. Some of his performance/recording credits include Sarah Vaughan, Eric Dolphy, Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand, Miles Davis, Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Band, Dexter Gordon, Ahmad Jamal and a host of other notables.    

DONALD PALMA ~ Bassist Donald Palma, a native New Yorker, is a founding member of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. Mr. Palma, who received his formal education at The Julliard School, is a former member of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and former principal bass of Canada’s National Art Centre Orchestra. As a chamber musician he has appeared in recital with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Jean-Pierre Rampal, Jan DeGaetani and Jorge Bolet. He is currently the music director of the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players and on the faculties of The Manhattan School of Music, Yale University and The New England Conservatory of Music, where he conducts the New England Conservatory Chamber Orchestra. 

JOSEPH PATRICK MOORE ~ For more than a decade electric and acoustic bassist Joseph Patrick Moore has been touring, recording, and establishing himself as a artist with a unique voice and diversity of talents. His  skills as bassist; composer; arranger; producer; author; educator and founding partner of Blue Canoe Digital illustrate why he is a highly sought after musician.

MARK BERNAT ~ Mr. Bernat has appeared in major concert halls throughout the U.S, Europe, Israel, and China. Mr. Bernat is a former member of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra where he was its youngest member working with such conductors as Zubin Mehta, and Leonard Bernstein. Mr. Bernat is also a former faculty member of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and the University of Texas-Austin School of Music. Presently Mr. Bernat is serves on the faculty at Emory University and is director of The Bass Club of Georgia.

DOUG SOMMER ~ Member of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and faculty member at Kennesaw State University.

DAVID GOODWIN ~ Orchestra director at Druid Hills High School.

TODD MARKEY ~ Todd Markey is a classical and jazz double bassist, active in the North Georgia region. He is a former faculty member of Valdosta State University.

JAMES BARKET ~ James Barket is orchestra director at Webb Bridge Middle School in Alpharetta, Georgia.
